Day 5: Puck It

I had an awesome evening!

Went to an Aeros game.

Arrived just on time. Jared and I were really pumped up and excited that it was chilly out and we were headed to the most aggressive and fast pace winter sport this side of the Mason Dixon.

We played a Canadian team that was supposedly the worst on the league....we're the second worst... ;)

Each period was so action packed! Total losses: 5 sticks were BROKEN and there was at least one fight per period. FIGHTS ARE THE BEST PART!

In the third period, Canada tied it up! They started getting really aggressive and acquiring penalty after penalty. Power plays ALL over! So intense! No one scored on overtime so it went into sudden death...never seen anything like it! One person from each team at a time takes a turn facing the goalie....man to man. Very impressive. Whoever makes it to 3 shots first wins.....that would be us! Yay for avoiding a loss to the worst team in the league. We are holding our rank! ;)

In the middle of the second period it began to get slow....until.......a man with a quick stock attempted a shot and BOOM......the puck flew in the air....up over the glass.....into the crowd......way in......and then BOOM....ricochet off of an empty seat (thank goodness it was empty).....and then I start to panic....

The puck is headed straight for us...(and we have to sit way way in the back)...

The row below us stops the puck. Check out the lucky winner and die-hard fan!

She was that close! Way too close for comfort! Whew!

Day 4: Flashback!

I have been waiting for this blog all week. Sick, I know.

I volunteered to go to a college fair this week at MY high school.

Those weren't the most amazing years, in fact..I tried to prepare myself for all kinds of possible circumstances....who would be there? Would random people recognize me? Would I recognize them?? What am I supposed to talk to them about? Who? What? When? Where? Ahh!

As you can tell from my paranoia, I had not been back to PHS in a very long time.....over 4 years....since the last day of my senior year.....

The fair was a success and I only saw three people I knew!

1. I saw an old friends mom and sister...luckily they avoided me like the plague....(lol I guess that's not really a good sign...)
2. A guy I knew in HS approached me before the fair....turns out he's a college counselor too! That was neat! Ironically, he works for his Alma Mater AND it happens to be another Texas Catholic University......his table was directly across from ours....facing one a other......
3. I saw and briefly spoke with a high school counselor that remembered me. She was so sweet and welcoming. She was also very complimentary. (I'll take that any day). ;)

Here's a peek at my journey!

This is the moment I considered getting back in the car and heading home.

This is the moment I realized I was glad I stayed... ;)
So delicious!!!

This is the moment I realized i wouldn't be back for another year....and though i survived, I can wait....

I enjoyed myself and my company. All in all, it was a pretty good night!

.....what a relief!!!

Day 3: Creative Writing

I was very nervous all day today....it's 5 o'clock on day three and I didn't have anything exciting to post.

On the verge of feeling extremely uninteresting, I was struck with the perfect post!

Out of nowhere (and with no excitement), Jared "informed" me that his dad had made me a pen.

I had been jealously envying his special handmade writing utensil (made out of wood with awesome gold trim) for the past couple of weeks and was surprised to get one! I really like it and I am amazed what a great job his dad did on them!

To me, this is an AMAZING and creative ability....

Yes,that is a rubber comfort grip! (a must have) ;)

To Jared, it's just another thing his dad does...

It even came with this cool case!

Heidi, have you gotten yours yet? What's it look like?!?!

Day 2: Plumber's Crack

First basketball game was tonight. I wasn't intending on going to watch, but worked it into my hectic schedule....830-5:30 work...dinner....prepare for next day...get ready for bed.....in bed by10.....start all over.

It was fun to see how great the team is, but more importantly, how much entertainment was provided by our famous Lenny....

Good old fashion plumber's crack.

Lenny, you have been nothing but entertaining, so keep up the great work!!! Next year at mascot camp, I would request a session specifically brainstorming solutions for this oh-so-embarrassing problem that so many mascots must encounter...

Team Lenny!

Day 1: Curly-Q

I tried something new today and today was the perfect day to do it- CURLS! I stayed up way too late last night to attempt such a timely hairstyle so early this morning. Luckily, I made it to work just in time....curls and all.

My hair is naturally pretty straight, but today, it held the slight curl for longer than I expected! I think with a little practice....and the full head of long hair I have recently been dreaming about....this look could stick around for awhile....what do you think? ;)

Note: next time there will be more curls near my face. My bangs fell almost immediately into their naturally straight state....oops, not enough hairspray...or maybe it was the irresistibility of touching my volumized curls all the way to work. ;)

Yes, Jennifer........VOLUME!!!!! lol

One-A-Day

To accompany my daily vitamin ritual, I thought it would be neat to document a month in the life of....me.

My new One-A-Day update will document ONE thing that caught my eye each day of the month of November. If by the end of the day, I haven't taken a quick shot of something that either caught my eye that day or took me by surprise, I will have to post two the following day....

I don't want these things to just be Plain Jane occurrences, they must be out of my ordinary routine....

I consider myself a bit of a boring gal; never branch out; never trying anything new. I am a creature of habit.....NO MORE!

You will all have to play an important role in this process.....hold me accountable...

I hope this month presents me with some amazing opportunities and cool experiences....one goal for this month....I will call into a radio show to attempt to make it ON-AIR!

Wish me luck and stay tuned!!!

One-A-Day -1
(just to get into the habit). ;)

Jared and I started a tradition this year for Halloween: pumpkin carving.

In previous years, I have avoided this holiday like the plague.....the bubonic one...

It's never really been appealing to me to stick my hands into a bright orange clump of goo....with seeds...

I may have had a strange, unfulfilling encounter with a pumpkin at halloween when I was a child....I have her to put my finger on it...

THIS HALLOWEEN, I did it and I loved it!

I cannot wait to continue this tradition for many years to come!

Modern Day Mace

During a much needed trip to Target, as assumed, I found a little gem....a little sense of security similar to that provided by a can of mace accompanying your car keys....(which I do not have, by the way)

I was VERY close to talking Jared into buying it for me in return for detouring directly through the Nerf section....what a coincidence that the Nerf aisle (yes, there is an entire aisle devoted to the little terrors) is on the way to the storage section.....

.....if you go the long way....

Tastebud Bliss

My most recent obsession was sparked by my attempt to adopt a new habit: bringing lunch to work everyday.

It has been a challenge. Oh how tempting it is to have your meal prepared for you. Hot and ready in minutes!

I still have my moments, but the small things at what keep me motivated to bring my own fun discoveries. I didn't know o even liked pimento cheese.....I'm addicted. These are must haves for work lunches! Light and refreshing!

There is nothing more satisfying than some cheese and crackers in the heart of the afternoon. And with some extra dollar bills in my pocket....it's a sweet sweet treat!

September Faves

I know, I know, I have had not been updating.....I have no excuse.....moving on.....

This month isn't quite over, but I figured to get caught up i will do a general faves post and call it September....

The most expensive piece of paper I have ever touched! I was finally able to fill the last empty wall space in my office with this fancy piece of paper. It's an awesome accomplishment and worth every all-nighter! I was also recognized recently as the graduation speaker by a young woman who did not even attend UST. Does that improve my celebrity status or what?! ;)

Fabric fabric fabric! I am now an official Etsy.com seller! Visit my shop for some fun and fancy coasters!

Hosted the first of many ladies parties this month!

I have discovered my most recent obsession....Roula and Ryan. Oh the possibilities for my morning commute. I have caught myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions.....then, panic stricken, looking over to find the driver in the car next to me staring at ME and laughing. I only hope that they got as much joy in laughing at me as I did laughing at Roula and Ryan....that makes it all worth it. Anything for the people. ;)

Just try em.....

This brightens any cloudy day! Hahahahah

I have gotten so many compliments on my COOKeys

And have not been able to lead anyone to the right place to get them. Well I finally found them locally!!!!! Look at the possibilities! Lol

Whole Earth Provision, people.

On My Desk.

As I sit in my chilly office peering out the window at the pouring rain and black sky, I take a moment to observe my office and I would like to share it with you!

I cannot live without my morning caffeine. It varies, but my awesome reusable Starbucks cup never fails me. I make my iced and hot coffee at home- amazing how much money that saves- but this one-time investment of $12.95 is worth every penny! I use it for everything from diet coke to iced coffee to water...all day long!! Lol

Gotta have a coaster for that Starbucks cup and any cups that may enter my office door!!!!

Gotta stay on top of things. Can't let anything slip through the cracks!

Prior to watching the rain, I was browsing through a borrowed 002 Houston Magazine/Guide. Definitely found some fun stuff.....like the "beer savers" pictured above. Hahaha
