Hang In There.

I cannot get enough of my new friend Amanda's blog! She is a craft GENIUS! I cannot believe how amazingly easy and fun everyday crafts can be! I NEVER, EVER imagined that my initial crafty project would lead to so many more projects....It has taken over my spare time.

I have no complaints because what else would I have to say for all of the time I am spending doing crafty, nifty projects now?       Television.....munchies.....sappy movies.....(which I will obviously never stop indulging in)...trashy reality show marathons.....all of my time spent doing this (though it will never completely cease to exist) has been replaced with things like this:

Zebra and Polka Dots!

What a transformation!

My new camera strap cover slip!
This fashion statement was introduced to me by a fellow blogger with some amazing all-around abilities! She can do it all! She's a wonderful sewer, photographer, baker, wife, scrapbooker, and part-time blogger.

Another idea from Amanda.....

Picture frame turned functional catch-all! The original idea for this little guy did not include the fabric backing and it was only intended for earrings and other jewelry.....Stay tuned for my new take on it. I have other plans....

Many neat features about this one- I started with an AWESOME frame! What happens, though, to br my absolute favorite feature-----multiple wires make up the "shelves" of you will, for the earrings. This means that you can hang dangly earrings as well as STUDS!

So easy, So fun, So quick, So cute, and with endless possibilities! You can paint/stain/weather your picture frame (of any size) and you can choose to nix the fabric, or choose whatever fabric that you like. How cute would this be with a black frame and ZEBRA print backing?!?!?!? Keep a lookout....

;)

Hope you like these, let me know what you think or if you are interested in how I did it!!!

Excuse to Shop!

Hooray for 3-day weekends! I have been crazy busy, but what a sense of accomplishment! I spent Saturday afternoon in a big room with big windows listening to the rain and the radio while I completed this cool creation!

I have had this fabric in my house since before Christmas with the intention of creating this very thing, but as always, life happens and then happens some more. One thing happens right after another and time seems to disappear as each new task accumulates on the to-do list.

Finally, on a rainy Saturday afternoon, the time had come...

It took a WHOLE lot of measuring....

A WHOLE lot of cutting...

A WHOLE lot of sewing...

And TA-DAAAAAA!!!!!

My custom designed reusable shopping bag is finished!

The pouch has multiple functions. You can place your debit card, cell phone, and keys in it while you shop and when you are done, the bag folds up into the pouch for storage. The inside of the bag is lined with bright solid orange fabric. You can't really see it in detail from these photos.

Off to make more bags!

Retro

Woke up this morning with full intentions of accomplishing absolutely nothing for the entire day....failed.

Some strange voice in my head (whom I rarely listen to) inspired me to clean something. Of course, I couldn't choose to clean something less of a mess than my mother's closet. What was I thinking?!?!

We spent 5 hours in a closet together throwing everything you could imagine into piles and corners and trash bags for donations....exhausting!!!!

About half way through the process, I came across the neatest little thing. Amongst so many more "retro" clothing (between my mom and my dad) this tag caught my eye:

I screamed "Woah! That's old school Gap!"

My mother couldn't stop laughing at my amazement....

I was so excited about this tag! Turns out, years and years ago, my dad had bought a pair of red "sweats" for my mom (he's not usually a shopper) and she still had them in her closet!!! I thought it was the cutest and sweetest thing that my mom had kept them.....

After realizing that I was misunderstanding her reason for keeping her little red Gap sweats was because they at one point turned into her "painting outfit"....

It's quite sad when one owns an outfit JUST for painting...but sure enough- they were covered in paint!

;) look at how weathered this tag is!

Later, it occurred to me that we have done an indeed amount of painting in my family over the years.....

Closet Clean!!!!
